The Atlantic Police Department has placed its first order of over 2,000 Glock 22′s. This is making news due to the last 70 years APD has been using the Smith and Wesson offerings, and just five years ago started carrying the M&P series. This might be a bit confusing to the Glock enthusiast due the fact that Glock’s US based HQ is only 20 minutes away.
“We believe GLOCK offers a trusted, superior firearm for our officers,” said Atlanta Police Chief George N. Turner. “They are industry leaders, and with headquarters here in Cobb County, we’re expecting superb customer service. Making sure our officers are provided the best equipment possible is in keeping with our mission of creating a safer Atlanta by reducing crime, ensuring the safety of our citizens and building trust in partnership with our communities.”
There’s no doubt that Glock is popular with police departments around the country, counting for over 65 percent agencies in the US.

The North Carolina House and Senate passed slew of gun laws that expand the rights of conceal carry permit holders, citizens and those that choose to violate firearm laws in the state.
About a year ago, the largest news station WRAL posted a database where anyone could look up concealed carry permit holders because it was public record who held such licenses. Under the proposed law it would be illegal to post such information, and rightly so. This will prevent such extreme measures of posting and potentially endangering permit holders unnecessarily. Under current law, conceal carry permit holders are not allowed to carry where alcohol is served, stripping designated drivers from their rights to protect themselves. When this bill is signed into law, it will restore those rights to designated drivers, and any other permit holder that decides to go out to for a meal.
Permit holders can also carry in funeral processions, along with being able to keep a firearm secured in a vehicle on college campus’ a rather controversial issue.
North Carolina is a bit different than other states, with that to purchase a handgun you must have a pistol permit issued by your local sheriff for each handgun you purchased. Now each county decides how many permits are issued to each person usually at a nominal fee of $5 per permit. Under the new measure sheriffs from around the state will operate on a more consistent level, with no yearly limit on permits. If a permit application is rejected, the sheriffs office is required to show cause.
One interested part of this bill is that it will increase the amount of information in the state’s background system, especially with the increase awareness around mental health. How this bill will exactly affect current mandatory sentences and such for those that decide to break gun laws has yet to be scene.
A would be gunman walks into a Missouri church on Sunday prior to service starting with a loaded firearm. Before he could cowardly murder innocent victims he is subdued by two gentleman sitting in the pews jumped to the rescue and answered the gunman’s two shots into the church floor by tackling resulting in a third shot. While no injuries due to the firearm discharge was a result. One of the en complained about the injury to his shoulder he obtained during the tackle.
No word if the church as a “Gun Free Zone”, but we will keep you updated as we know more.
No doubt by now you’ve heard the verdict in the case on the Florida community watchman, but have you heard that the DOJ has requested that his firearm not be given back to him? While it’s easy to get sucked into the politics surrounding this case that even the President feels has time to put his own thoughts into, the fact that is Zimmerman has serious threats made against him regarding bodily harm and the one tool to protect himself isn’t available to him at the moment. Not that I would necessarily protect myself with a Kel-Tec, but that was his choice, and it proved to be a life saving choice.
A Florida shop that sales motorcycle and firearms, Pompano Pat’s has stepped up and offered a firearm for George Zimmerman pending his acquittal. Sure they might have been doing for a bit of publicity, but I think they did it more to give the finger to the DOJ along with those that feel they have a right to take other people’s stuff. A quick Google search brought up a youtube video of a group of people trashing and attempting to steal from the store. It’s nice to see a community stand up to a corrupt federal government, we can only hope that others will do the same.
I did a little more digging, and I found this Pompano Pat’s website. I saw some motorcycles that happened to have some serious eye candy on there too.
Here’s a link to the site, http://pompanopatsdaytona.com/ (Warning, music will play!)
There real treat is if you go to their non-flashy site and check out some of their instock inventory. Particularly looking at a Harley at the moment…

This is part three in a series of articles I am writing for Gun and Game. When Chris, the owner of Gun and Game, asked me about writing an article neither of us thought it would turn into a three part series. The initial thoughts we had were that the common perspective of a gun owner in the US, as commonly portrayed in the media, is not someone who works in the tech industry, college educated, and who has lived and travelled abroad. Gun owners come from a broad cross section of America and represent far more roles in society than most of the media outlets portray. Unfortunately, many of the views presented on gun use and regulation in different news outlets had more hyperbole than fact. (more…)
The 93 year old legendary AK47 designer was hospitalized yesterday. It’s reported he was admitted in serious condition. He was diagnosed with occlusion of blood vessels. Details are slim to none right now, but we wish him a speedy recovery.
Bill Mahr was recently talking with the infamous gun hating Micheal Moore, saying he has guns, and he has no plan on giving them up. This is a bit of different type of tune Mahr seems to be singing just five short months ago, when he preaching how the NRA is an assassin group. Mahr goes on to proclaim there had been over a dozen break-ins over the last six months and Mahr wants a fighting chance if he were to wake up in his bed versus being “mowed down”.
Here’s a clip from his show criticizing the NRA and gun ownership.
The SHOT Show that the NSSF puts on every year will not longer be managed Reed Exhibitions. While there is an official statement, but if I had to guess the events earlier in the year when Reed Exhibitions decided to prohibit AR15 style Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show. There is no word as to who may take Reed Exhibitions place in putting on the SHOT Show that is held every year.
The official NSSF statement from the blog is:
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, today announced that it has reached an agreement with Reed Exhibitions to terminate the agreement the parties had for the management of the SHOT Show. Accordingly, effective immediately, Reed Exhibitions will no longer be manager and producer of the SHOT Show.
Reed Exhibitions provided excellent service to NSSF and the customers of the SHOT Show for more than three decades, however, the company’s decision to restrict the sale of certain types of firearms this year at its consumer hunting and fishing show — an event unrelated to NSSF and the SHOT Show — was in conflict with NSSF’s mission to serve the shooting sports industry. As a result, both organizations decided it was in the best interest of the SHOT Show to end their relationship.
“OK, I got it. More muskrat and mice might be alive. OK. I think we can put up with that.” - Joe Biden
This is the second in a three part series. The first focused on the disconnect between what politicians and the media say is needed and what they are doing to achieve it. The third will focus on the decision to build an AR-15 variant and the complexity of choices for it. This edition focuses on the need for hunting and how it relates to the Second Amendment. (more…)
The oldest firearm manufacture in the world is threatening to move it’s US headquarters from Maryland to Virginia. Citing laws as the reason for the move, I can’t help but to wonder if the politicians are trying to pass these laws will regret it come November.
Beretta has been making guns since 1526, so I would imagine a company that old knows how to deal with making a smooth transition to a new location. Now if Beretta was closer to where I live, I hope I can convince someone to let me get a tour of their new location.
If you aren’t sure why this is such as big deal, just keep this in mind, the 9mm Beretta offers the M9, is carried by almost all the servicemen in the US, so it’s not likely Beretta is going out of business anytime soon. Beretta also owns Benelli, a well known shotgun maker that also happens to make the shotgun carried by several branches of the military.
Good for Beretta for standing up to these politicians, who forget where their paychecks come from, THE PEOPLE!
