The 140th NRA National Convention is going on up in Pittsburgh, PA right now until Sunday May 1st 2011. The famous sandwich shops Primanti Brothers has their flagship eatery there. A few months back there was a campaign for “Mayors Against Illegal Guns”, that had breakfast there, and apparently parked their giant sign out front. To add more salt to the wound, they convinced the employees working to put t-shirts on to promote their cause. This has raised havoc on the gun blogs. Some are demanding a complete boycott of Primanti Brothers across the country. I’m not not so sure that is necessary, quite yet. When asked about it on the NRA talk show, Marc Teklinski, Directory of Operations for Primanti Brothers, is quoted as saying, “We welcome everybody. We aren’t pro-gun, or anti-gun, we just want to feed everybody. We’re citizens of Pittsburgh and America and all it entails.”

It looks like the NRA might show up later with some shirts to show their support to those patrons as well.
They aren’t anti-concealed carry, so I’m not sure why some gun blogs are splitting hairs. These guys are in business to make a dollar. They make great signature sandwiches. They are shown all the time on the Travel and Food Network.
If you’re in Pittsburgh, be sure to bring an extra NRA shirt to take a picture.
