Question Rebarrel to 22-250?

Does anyone know if the turkish mauser can be rebarreled to a 22-250 caliber? what needs to be done besides a new barrel and headspacing? Also where is a cheap place to get barrels in this caliber? Any help would be great, thanks.

You can rebarrel it to anything you want, providing the cartridge will fit in the action. Adams and Bennett offer a 22-250 in the large ring.

the only kink you will run into with the turks is the thead size isn't the same as standard 98. i can't quote the shank lenth but the dia is .980 the same as a small ring.

they are strong enough to handle standard calibers, i have a 22-250 a 6mmm rem and a .280

as far as qualitly i have found the rifles were made by brono and might have been re worked at ankra

You will have to buy an unthread barrel. The threads on the Turkish Mausers are different than the others. Outside of that, have at it. Let us know how it works out for you.

From the Wagner Turk Mauser page:
Quote:
The K.Kale receivers are identical to the Mauser Model of 1898 (known as the Large Ring Mauser) with two exceptions:

1. The "ring" of the receiver is about 3/16 of an inch LONGER than a Model 98,
2. The "ring" is threaded to receive a barrel shank threaded to the "small ring standard".

These are all Mauser barrels. The top barrel is a "large ring" standard thread, below it is a barrel removed from a Turk, the bottom is an 1896 Swedish in 6.5x55. Note that the lower two have smaller diameter threads. These small threads are "small ring" standard.

The two small ring barrels have headspace gauges extending from the chambers. Note that they appear (and are) identical. The easiest way to rebarrel a Turk is to screw a Swedish barrel onto the receiver and put the wood back on. Long Swedish barrels are available from SAMCO (blued, new, with no sights) or Springfield Sporters (used, with sights).
