Suziki Vinson 2002

I Got A Vinson 2002[Some Blues Players Are Named Vinson] And Love It.
Changed The Front Brakes At 2777 Miles Just Time! Used EBC SV Brakes From Rocky Mt. I Have The Factory Front And Rear Bumpers, OxLite CV Joint Front Guards[Dennis Kirk] And Rear Skid Plate[Rocky Mt]. I Like The Large
Comfortable Seat, Auto Xmission, 5 Gallon Gas Tank, WaterProof Compartment And The Ride. The First Few Months I Rode, I Was The
Only Vinson On The Trails. EveryBody Looked At Me Puzzled, The Gals Love
It And Asked Me If The Machine "Treated Me Right". Now I See A Lot Of Vinsons, All Are Happy With This ATV. Hope You A Happy With Yours!

welcome to a fellow ATVer.

Between my wife and I we have Polaris.....mine a 4X4 Sportsman 500 HO in Mossy Oak camo and the wife's is a 4X4 330 Magnum, also in Mossy Oak.

Both are work horses out on the back rocky service trails.

The only problem is my 500 , even with an almost 5 gallon tank, only has a range of 70-75 miles before the prayers begin. Although I do carry a little extra gas I'd better be near where I want to be if I have to add some.

What kind of mileage does that Vinson get?

Believe it or not, with all of the riders in our group (we have a private club with over 60 quad owners), only one person has a Suzuki (and that's a 325 I believe) so I'm not up on Suzuki runners.

Here in Arizona you have to, at least, license all quads to ride on 4X4 trails. By adding a mirror and a horn, like I did, we then licensed them so they are street legal and we can, and do, ride on primary roads and streets as well as the secondary and primitive roads.

The tires don't last as long running on pavement but it beats the summer heat, to speak, and is a blast.

Anyway, BJ, welcome to G&G and keep all four tires pointed to the earth.

I Get 22+mpg Trail Riding/[Ocasional Low/4WD Usage] Higher On Smooth
Trail Riding. In NY Need License/Insurance y Can Ride On "Marked"
Trails y "Designated" Roads. In Many Areas Roads Are Being Banned To
ATVs. We Pay 10$ For Registration Fee For Now?? State Wanted To
Raise The Fee To 40$. Don't Think NYS Will Ever Give Us The Street Legal

Wow Dale, I'm surprised thats the range of the fuel. I know the Polaris is a pretty big machine but I thought it would go further on 5 gallons.
My sister and brother in law have Honda 4wd quads and unless its an overnight ride, gas isnt a problem.
You know I'm a motorcycle guy myself and I ride with guys with many different makes and models. Many of my rides have been cut short because of riding with guys with those noisy, smelly two stroke KTM's!
Those "fees" you mentioned also apply to buying an off road bike and I didnt know it when I bought mine. There are fees for the Forest Service, BLM, environmental and others. Its enough to raise the price considerably and I cant ride mine on the road.

Snakebite, I have only known one Polaris 500 HO owner who says he gets more than around 15 MPG which, in a way, isn't bad for a 1300 pound utility quad.

For most rides I can live with the gas mileage I get. With the added gas I carry I can get a 100 mile range and that's quite a day of riding.......especially if it's on our bumpity bumpity Arizona back trails.

I know I can extend my range by a couple 2-3 MPG by adding a K&N air filter system but I'm not sure if all that money is worth it just to get 10-15 more miles from a tank full.

Much Less Than Than My Vinson. I Believe His Carb Is Of Different Breed. Another
Riding Buddy Has Got The Vinson 5 Speed His Gas Mileage Is Greater Than My Vinson
Automatic...This Of Course Is Expected.

Mine only weighs about 214 pounds full and has a 6 speed. Oh, it only has 2 tires to turn too. I virtually never check the gas on a full day of riding.
I do want a quad though. Never had one and they are everywhere I ride.
Dale's right about 75 miles of riding. Thats a lot in one day and I know I'm ready to get out of the saddle after that many miles.
The K&N filter isnt worth it unless you race . It breathes easier and makes more power at the expense of shorter engine life from the dirt it lets by. I would never own one.
