What I would grab would depend on who and what kind of bumping you talking about.

The only time I had to hold a gun on a (potential) bad guy was an AR-15 I borrowed from my brother for self familiarization training before going to the desert last year.

Only reason I mention this is, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I didn't stick to the plan and got caugrt with my pants down. Fortunately it worked out.

Anytime people are on my property uninvited, and they're not a close friend or family member, they are treated as potential bad guys. But that's because the crime rate in neck of the woods, especially burglaries, has increased substantially over the last few years.

I'd use a Ruger blackhawk .44 mag, that is if I had one. With my current arsenal I'd use my .270 Ruger mark II since its the largest chamber I've got.

I'd grab either my Steyr M40 or Mossberg 590... indeed it depends on what kind of bumping. If it was really serious, I'd grab my AK.

Springfield XD 9mm or my Remington 700 in 30-06, or my Springfield 03A3 depending upon the amount of time available and conditions.

Well I have 2 cents. Its a shame that its so difficult in some states (NY Mass) and so forth To own a hand gun. Its a shame that one or two bad seeds get hold of one and causes a tragedy. Its a shame that the police can't protect us.And the final shame is that We are not allowed to protect ourselves. I chose to brake the law.Its better to have and not need than to need and not have (like on and aircraft) Its lucky that I live in a state that the mothers and johney dogooder don't run. (yet) Now, don't get your balls or brests in and upraw. Lets face it, the woman that started "Women aganst drunk drivers" was arrested for DWI. I choose not to carry except when I travel (through N.Y.) or my grand kids visit and the bottom line is I keep a 40 Glock under my mattress and not unloaded. So, I have no chrildren at home but you know, they all know how to use one. Live and let live.
