Well, not to bad for the second time. From prone using nra 600 yard target ( thats match comp 6oo hundred black at 200, center dialed down to sim 600) I put about 200 rounds through to loosen her up, and then prone frog legged using talon reload 150 grain 308 win chamber commercial brass, settled in with creedmore jacket and parade rest sling( my old di would have beat me senseless for that). lets see let me count,4-x 7- 10,9-9, 4-8 yuck, thats shooting line of white at 6 oclock, one thing I dont like about these match sights on this springfield is the tang is to narrow and fuzzes out early, needs to be thicker. any way next using lake city 147 grain nato 7.62, a little better, 5-x,10-10,9-9, 1-8, Im saving the brass, that lake city ammo is getting hard to get, line of white again. I find I shoot better with out my glasses. Got a long ways to go to be competitive with the mouse guns. Just playing around till I can be a little more serious. johnathan teague was at the range hes the nm state champ at national match in the unlimited, worked with me a bit, christ he must have 10 grand in that weapon of his, shooting half dollar groups at 200 yards. I geuss thats how the big boys do it, nice guy though, it was a ball. I dont think Ill ever be in the league with those flat bellied boys but I have fun. I wont talk about off hand, dam nation that stainless barreled beast is heavy!!!, Ill just stick to garand matches untill I dont think Ill embaress myself,, ----rifle was smooth with no hang ups, I sure do love that 2 stage trigger, wow, smooth as silk, 4.5 pound pull. a wonderful day, I could have stayed at the range all day, man ,smell of cordite, blue skys, heaven on earth

7mmag6 - Good shooting! By the way, to help condition yourself for the Standing Position (Offhand), do some sets of holding the rifle in the standing position. Since the time limit for 10 shots standing, is 10 minutes, use that as your gage for your sets. In other words assume the standing firing position with rifle in position, hold for 10 minutes, set the butt of the rifle on a chair for 5 minutes, in the standing firing position with rifle in position, hold for 10 minutes, set the butt of the rifle on a chair for 5 minutes, through 5 sets. If you need to build up to it, try starting at 1 minute, and break for one minute, until you have done 5 cycles. You will develop the muscles you need for the standing position, and that heavy rifle will feel a lot lighter after the first week of doing maybe 5 sets each day. The same holds true for each position, and as your muscles get conditioned, your scores will improve. You may or may not be surprised, but Jonathan Teague could come close to holding a half dollar sized group with your rifle, too! While you may not think so, if you get serious, and practice, you too could do the same. ` |
