I dunno if anyone that uses this forum knows the rules and regs of the Canadian Firearms Act, but i was wondering it the M1A is possible to have brought into Canada? I don't know whether it falls under Restricted or Non-Restricted (who knows maybe the retarded Liberals made it prohibitied).

To the best of my knowledge, a standard M1A would be Canadian Legal, They have a bunch of laws, No Assault Rifles, No Pistols with a barrel under 4.14" (I think that's right)

Summary of Requirements
You cannot import a prohibited firearm or a prohibited device.
You must be at least 18 and have a valid Canadian firearms licence to import a restricted or non-restricted firearm.
An Authorization to Transport (ATT) is required for all restricted firearms.
If you are under 18 or don’t have a licence, you may use borrowed firearms under the direct and immediate supervision of a licensed adult (aged 18 or older).
All firearms must be registered.
You must comply with the safe storage, display and transportation regulations.
The Canada Border Services Agency is responsible for declaration procedures.
If you have been convicted of anything considered a criminal offence in Canada, including driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will need to get approval of rehabilitation or a temporary immigration permit from Canada’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration before you can enter Canada.




PROHIBITED:

a handgun with a barrel length of 105 mm (4.1 inches) or less;
a handgun designed or adapted to discharge 25 or 32 calibre ammunition;
a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make it less than 660 mm (26 inches) in overall length;
a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make the barrel length less than 457 mm (18 inches) where the overall firearm length is 660 mm (26 inches) or more;
an automatic firearm and a converted automatic firearm;
any firearm prescribed as prohibited.

Since Norinco (chinese) firearms are still available in Canada, one of their M1A clones may be an option? Unless of course you want to stick to an original Springfield.

They don't restrict on the basis of features, just dimensions. They also have a universal mag capacity restriction to 5rd with a few exceptions, such as rimfire (unlimited) and M1 Garand (standard en-bloc 8rd clip).

your right brg3, all i can have is a 5 round mag for my mini 14. i had a 10 round mag for my lee enfield 303 and the local RCMP had no problem with that.
