Need a little help

I want to pick up a CETME after the New Year.
My gun shop owner said the have them at $399.00 and will be geting in "H&K
copies" in (made from H&K parts) is this right or should I run like a sissy from this

Wheres Bigdog? He's the CETME fan...I've heard too many horror stories about them jamming all the time.....

FAC (Federal Arms Corp.) is still offering the Century "Black Widow" CETME (black synthetic stock set) for less than $300. The wood-stocked CETME's are getting more expensive - good wood is getting harder to find!
All CETME's and HK's from Century are built on the exact same receiver - just different parts kits.
Actually, the percentage of owners having serious problems is low - they just get all the publicity! Mine has run like a Timex from the get-go.
If you want to ultimately accessorize though, get the HK version. FAC has a nifty side-folder stock for the HK, and other goodies. Internal parts for the HK are easier to find too, should something need replacement.

But Joe is right - I'm a big CETME fan!

I love my CETME.

It eats anything I feed it, and is quite happy with the TAPCO "tactical" mount for putting a scope on it.

Only advice I have is when you get it home, take it apart and clean it and lube the hell out of it.
Reassemble it, run the charging handle a few times, then take it apart and clean and lube it again.

Let it sit for a day or three, clean it again, and give it normal lubrication.

Take it to the range and enjoy. Be prepared for a few feed failures in your first few rounds.

Mine didn't cycle with the first 6 rounds I put through it. After that, I haven't had one FTF or FTE. Runs like a dream, and with the Australian Milsup, I'm getting 3" groups at 100 yards. With Rem 150 Core-loct, it goes down to about 1.5" groups.

DS, glad to see another CETME lover! People don't believe it when I tell 'em how good these rifles can shoot. I normally keep a fixed 6X scope on it, but for awhile was using a 4.5-14X40AO, to see what it could really do. I was well pleased. It's no Target/Sniper rifle, but certainly Prairie Poodle accurate inside 300 yards.
My scope mount is dead cheap - a Weaver rail originally made for the Remington 700, and some JB Weld epoxy. Sounds weird, but it has held up solid for several hundred rounds now, over the course of a couple years.
Painted to match the gun, it blends in nicely and allows the use of the iron sights, even with the scope mounted. I use tall see-thru rings.
