Hi there people. I'm looking into buying a TC contender (from a friend) in very good condition so I decided to join this forum for alittle advice. It's a 375 win. cal. with a TC scope, sling and carry/storage bag. He wants $400 and I don't think that's a bad deal, the gun looks execllant. I'm not sure about the barrel length, it's either 12 or 14" with a ported (holes in the end) barrel. He said he's shot about 25 rds thru it. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Sounds like a fair deal. That's what I paid for a Contender with 14" .223 Rem. barrel and a 10" .22LR barrel, both scoped. I've sold it since, but it was a good pistol. One way I get an idea of relative value is to check out GunsAmerica - it's not an auction, so the prices are fixed. Some will be low, some high - figure on about the middle level for a fair price. Just use their search facility for "Contender" and it'll show all of them.

At gunsamerica, many of the prices are quite negotiable; just contact the seller and make an offer. It's an excellent venue for firearms sales, and even the ATF loves it.
