Thumbs up How to obtain your 03 C&R license....

This is the best page I've ever seen explaining how to do it:

Joe,
I have been on a bunch of other sites and message boards, have downloaded a lot of information, printed stuff out, even filled out the application. I will be sending it off this week. A buddy of mine is now interested in the same thing and I have a lot of stuff for him already. The link you gave is good info. I have downloaded it and will be adding it to my stack of stuff. There are also some good links (you gotta surf a bit) to look at starting with www.cruffler.com. As a matter of fact, who do I see on their message board? Good old NRAJOE.

I mailed off my application on Jan. 13th. As of this morning, the check for the application fee cleared my bank. Eight days so far. Sounds too efficient for a government agency.

My little place now smells of cosmoline, dawn & linseed oil :insane:

I am glad I got my C&R licence not only can I blow my money on all types of historic firearms, I can also get discounts and shop at places like Ky imports another way to blow my money.

By the way thanks for the link to that site NRAJOE, they have some cool videos to download.

If I'da known the record keeping crap that was expected of me I'da never gotten my C&R.

For example.....in the record (bound ledger) where you HAVE to record each C&R acquisition disposition (something that John Q Public does NOT have to do) I'da not gotten mine.

Even though, some say, you need not enter those C&R firearms you got before you acquired you C&R license it's quit clear you have to log every disposition you make after you were licensed.

Once again...John Q Public can privately buy and get rid of firearms without any record.

So I paid good money to get governmentally stiffed.

Yepper....fer sure!

So, now, I recommend to no one to get a C&R license.

Why should anyone have to go through bureaucratic BS and be subjected to scrutiny by a governmental organization just to save a few bucks?

Beats me.

Not just a few bucks. I have saved hundreds of dollars so far. No BATF inquiries so far, and probably will never be any. Ergo, I don't mind. A small price to pay for the money I am saving. Considering that you can get dealer pricing with most large distributors (even non C&R pieces) and with companies like MidwayUSA, I say it's worth it.

In my state you can still buy C&R firearms through the same process as "average Joe" and it is as if you bought any other rifle. Only if you order the C&R firearm using your license, do you need to ink up the old "Bound Book".
