S.U.I.T. Trilux
Finally, after all these years of FALs I finally procured a SUIT Trilux and top cover mount for one of my L1A1's. Of all the FAL stuff that I have done I still can't really figure why I never got one of these before now? Normally you would think this thread should be in the optics section, but really the Trilux is almost an FAL exclusive optical sight. There are mounts and elevation cams for M16's, but I believe that most of that set up is actually Israeli - because they used FAL's before switching to 16's.
But I digress -
For the money the Trilux is a pretty darn good optical unit for easy mounting on an FAL. The unit that I got looks pretty good and came with an inch pattern top cover mount and LED illuminator. Original Trilux's had a tritrium element for reticle illumination but the most common way of lighting the reticle on the surplus unit available over here is with the LED. I forgot who it is that was actually making these LED's - it's rough getting old! TAPCO had them at one time but I haven't seen those guys list them in a while. The top cover that I got came with a Krylon restoration finish so I went ahead and blasted it and threw it in the park tank - being the picky beeyatch that I am.
Anyway - it's a really good sight for most any FAL, I would highly recommend it to anyone. I'm seriously thinking about getting another one for my Izzy heavy barrel.
I've been pretty covered up for a while and haven't had the time - or taken the time when I had a bit - to post much lately. It seems the FAL section has been a bit slow so I figured I would fill it up some!
I've gotten behind at the shop as well, it seems there are several FAL's awaiting my attention, at least 4 of which will be complete builds.
I am very thankful for my ability to create, I enjoy fixing them and building them about as much as I do shooting them. Fixing and building definantly uses up less ammo - until I'm done and ready to test. :uzi:
AHHHRGH! it's a vicious circle!
Later,
Max
