Airguns

Well as far as I know the 3 main hunting choices (as weapons go) are firearms, bow & arrows (includes crossbows, slingshots, etc), and airguns. Well I have decided to get an airgun. But my question for you is who is the best company (for air guns)? Would it be Crosman,Daisy, what? And what type should I get? PCP? Spring? CO2? Or what? Thanks for the help.

If you are looking for inexpensive then Daisy or Crossman would be what need to look at. Gamo makes some inexpensive guns but generally with bad triggers. Your question is hard to answer because of the wide range of air guns out there. Are you wanting to plink or shoot something that will shoot like a match firearm.(Distances taken into consideration) How much are you wanting to spend? What are you going to do with it?

I would mostly plink with it. And probably go hunt squirrls (sp?) every so often. I do have an old crosman pumpmaster 760, but I want to get something better than that.

inexpensive hell... those things can run up to 500 bucks a gun for the good ones and as far as triggers go they are better then most and they are adjustable also, and for being 1000+ FPS or more they are not short on power. As far as daisy and crossman and benjamin go I get more of those returned then any other pellet gun.

I should have said the Gamos that are inexpensive, have bad triggers. I failed to mention that they sell expensive high quality also. I have a shadow and a Gamo compact and the compact has an excellent trigger, and I've got a new trigger ordered for the shadow that's supposed to fix the old trigger problem.
The shadow is a harsh shooting gun but for the price is a good starter gun but stills needs a replacement trigger. My Shadow shoots under 900fps using an 8 grain pellet. Not just Gamo but I think most manufacturers exaggerate their speed.

When you mention Gamos adjustable triggers are better than most I would assume you're talking about the more expensive guns. My Shadow's trigger seems to have a travel of about a quarter of an inch and heavy.

check out some web sites like compasseco.com, they have a lot of info on types of airguns, care and feeding and pellet and caliber choices. some other sites are pyramyd air gun mall and airgun depot. i like springers, i have a beeman R-7 .20 cal. its accurate, cocking effort 18 lbs;620 fps, rekord adj.trigger ,nice adjustable sites, excellent fit and finish. my other springer is at the opposit end of the spectrum "the beast from the east" a russian IZH baikal MP513 .22cal. accurate, cocking effort 40 lbs; 800fps,adj.trigger somewhat (not like the r-7), fit and finnish a little on the rough side. but a good gun none the less. not a gun you want to shoot all day long your arm would fall off from cocking it. the beeman is just the opposit. do some research and check out all the options. all air guns have pros and cons you have to see what fits your requirments.

I also have the Beeman R-7 and I would highly recommend it as would most R-7 owners. It only shoots about 700fps but is butter smooth in recoil and trigger. 29er said it best when he said check out the different sites and guns available. You will see some jaw dropping prices but don't kid yourself they are quality guns. (just don't shoot fast like a centerfire but come close to some rimfires with of course a lighter projectile.) For what you mentioned I would recommend a break barrel (spring piston).

Better than most what? The few Gamo's I've messed with, the triggers were simply god-awful.
The sad thing is for 500 bucks you can actually get a quality german gun, instead of a polished tur... I mean, spanish gun.
The way I see it Gamos have their corner of the market. And that is low cost, hunting grade airguns. Once the prices on some of their models start reaching the range of higher end manufacturers, they are just out of place.

A Gamo shadow would be a good choose. Its true the triggers aren't that great, but they do get much better with use. It just takes a lot of shooting. If you wont a pump, I personally like the Benjamin 392 (.22 cal. ), Its what I use and it hasn't let me down yet.
If you wasn't to learn more about air guns, this is a good place to look. And they do talk about more than crosmans.
