Wouldn't This Be A Suppressor?

Hello,

I've been looking at the higher power "adult" airguns and thinking about getting one.

I saw this in the Father's Day Cabela's release:

Muzzle technology that suppresses sound...?

I do NOT want to get into an illegal debate as per board rules. However, what is your take on this? Should I steer clear of it? Or is it really a suppressor?

What do you make of this?

Thank you,

Josh <><

I don't see a problem with it. There isn't much sound to suppress in a pellet rifle to begin with...

Sound suppression is perfectly legal on air weapons provided it is permanently attatched and CANNOT be put onto a firearm.

That is perfectly legal, I just wouldn't brandish it around uninformed people who might mistake it for a real firearm.

I didn't know they were legal for air rifles.

Indiana code specifically addresses suppressors as illegal unless they're registered (never understood that redundancy...)

However, we can hunt small game with air rifles. Suppressors are specifically outlawed when hunting. Do you suppose that would apply here?

I like the idea of a high speed pellet gun that "whispers" but I also need to watch the legalities....

Thanks,

u'd be suprised. my airgun is almost as loud as my 10/22. and no the "silencer" law doesnt pertain to air rifles. as you read some of the descriptions of some air rifles it says "this is NOT a silencer, it is a "noise-reducer" if that makes people feel better.
