| 2nd day of reception. we we're issued these old bulky wool overcoats, and caps. regular issue stuff came later. mean time we had to wear the coat and cap. the coat was the pits. but the cap was way cool was reffered to as the Ranger/patrol cap, wool fleece lined, ear flaps that folded up inside the cap, short bill. unfortunatly at some point during my 3 years it disappeared. never found another one. none of the real Army/Navy stores ever had one, nor the catalogs or online place. |

| I wonder: I've got a "Cap, Field, Pile, M-1951" that I picked up somehow while I was in Germany (582nd Ambulance Company & 5th General Hospital) in 1973-75. The flaps on my cap fold up over the top & tie, though, so it's probably not the same one that you are remembering.

| no, i have 2 of them righteous winter caps. the Ranger/Patrol cap is from the same era though. |
