beretta CX4 Storm

What's you're opinions on it? I've been looking at one and was wondering on how well or poor it operates.

As much as I don't care for pistol caliber carbines, I think I would really like one of these in .45 ACP

I'm picking one up in 9mm later this week. I'll post the results of this weekend's trial run.

I am thinking about getting one myself -- have shot one and it was nice

I shot my buddy's last weekend. at 50 yards i was getting all 10 rounds on a target (it was my 2nd time shooting it so thats how inherently accurate it is, not my skill). my only complaint is the trigger, if I were to get one i would have a gunsmith do a trigger job on it, its a very stiff and jagged pull. other than that it is a very good gun

I've handled one at the range, though didn't get to shoot it. It seemed a pretty good gun, but other than the higher capacity mags, it offered no advantage over my High-Point Carbine. Similar size and overall feel, but I paid much less. Still, if I wanted another pistol caliber carbine, it would be high on my list!

I fired a 9mm version of a "rental" CX4 Storm Carbine at the range and loved it. All bullets (4 full mags) hit in the intended target area at 25 yds. and at 50 yds. Recoil was virtually unnoticeable as the rifle is butt-heavy, which allowed for accurate 2-shot and 3-shot burst fire. Site acquisition is rapid with the factory peep-site and post.

I was so impressed I ended up purchasing a .40 S&W version. I've taken it out to shoot targets several times at my deer lease, with fantastic results. Every guest I have handed it to for them to fire, has shot very accurately, and has been equally impressed. My intended use is for hunting feral hogs in thick brush (along with my .357 mag sidearm!).

After reading about the PX4 Storm pistol, I was anxious to plan on purchasing one to go with my CX4 Storm carbine. I later learned that both the 9mm and the .40 S&W models come in two versions -- one that supports Model 92 9mm mags / Model 96 .40 S&W mags, and one that supports Cougar/8000 mags in either 9mm or .40 S&W. To my dismay, I learned that The PX4 Storm pistol is based on the Cougar model, while my CX4 that I purchased is based on the Model 96 mags. This now limits me to a standard Model 96 or a Vertec Model 96 (which has a more comfortable grip for my hand).

Bottom line, if you are considering a CX4 Storm Carbine (which I highly recommend!), and you plan to leverage it's compatibility with other Beretta handguns, make sure you choose the correct model to the handgun you prefer.

Any idea when the px4 becomes available for civilians to purchase?

.45 ACP Cx4 Storm

After shooting the 9mm version some months ago and totally falling in love, I picked up a .45 ACP Storm last week. After getting it sighted in I found it deadly accurate out to 50 yards. At 100 yards half my shots hit the lower half of a target, which seemed A LONG way away! I'll tweak the front sight next time and see if I can't improve on that performance...

The only drawback to the .45 ACP on the range is the magazine capacity -- it comes with 8 round magazines, which it shares with the Cougar 8045, though you can buy 9 round mags from Pro-Mag. I found the following information on another forum:

Pro-Mag (800.438-2547) is very interested in hearing if there is a market out there for high capacity magazines (such as a 20 rd mag) for the .45 Storm. If you call them please have the receptionist take a message "for the technicians" from you that includes at least the following information: First Name, State, CX4 STORM IN .45 CAL, Desired capacity, number of mags you might purchase.

I called the other day and left a message.

The 45 ACP, while powerful and accurate at 50yds, yeally does drop off at 100. I'm sure shots that hit will be potent though. Would you say that it's "combat accurate" or "hunting accurate", or is it not that good in either case? MP5s in 10mm have been known to make 300yd shots accurately.

The front sight is where both windage and elevation are adjusted. To raise the point of impact you use the supplied tool to turn the front sight clockwise. To lower the point of impact, turn counter-clockwise. There's a screw on the right side of the front sight to adjust windage. You turn clockwise to move the point of impact to the right, and visa-versa.
