As one of the people here formerly accused of being a racist because I don't believe in the double standard of people playing the race card to cover up their misdeeds, I'm getting sick of hearing the "if they were white" line. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal...where did this guy do anything that was illegal? There have been several legal descriptions thrown about and I'm not going to dig up the legal definitions of citizens arrest, percieved threats, etc. The only thing this guy is guilty of is not having a badge. LD, I guess John Allen Mohammed and Lee Malvo would've been of no consequence if they'd been white? How 'bout the 9/11 terrorists?-they weren't white either. I've noticed that you are really good at finding statistics. Try finding the stats for illegal aliens in U.S. prisons-oh wait, that's probably because we're all a bunch of racist crackers trying to keep the lesser races down, huh? Guess what, reverse racism is just as bad as the old-fashioned kind, especially when used to justify criminal actions.

spocahp anar, please go back and read what i wrote. i did not call the guy a hero- i said he did the right thing but went about it wrong. also you may not like the fact that i consider it a form of terrorism, but thats too bad cuz thats the way i feel about it. you of course have the right to disagree with me. also i dont exactly see how my words are coming off as racism, i believe i used the words "illegal aliens" , that does not infer race, creed, color, or religion. if somebody wants to read anything else into that, then that is their problem. you may be correct that im hateful, or spiteful of these criminals, i also dont like car thieves or drug dealers and believe they should be dealt with in the same manner. if someone from a foreign country wants to come here and does so in the proper manner i have absolutely no problem with them.

this thing has gotten way out of hand, i think we can all agree on that. the majority of us seem to agree that the guy went to far in how he handled the situation. the law even sees it this way. lefty o, i dont think you are a bad fella or a racist, but really do you think it is reasonable to kill a person for trying to come across a border? do you really not see that as being extreme at all. i'm thinking that your opinion was based outa anger more than anything else. please clarify that for me, i'm curious.

it may be extreme, but in this day and age in this world extreme measures are warranted. nobody can tell if some of these illegals coming across the borders mean ill will when they come. for all i know bin laden and his buddies could be slipping up through mexico, and there is only one means to eliminate that potential problem and that is to eliminate anybody from coming through who isnt supposed to. it may well be extreme, but im guessing if the terrorists make an attack on your country then you might feel strongly towards protecting it. like ive already said , if they come here legally i have no hard feelings towards them- if they try to sneak in, may they fear the worst. this is a time of war , and the best way to defend this country starts with defending its borders. im pretty sure the USA has not seen its last terrorist attack, and if it cost some illegals lifes to save even one american life, then yes it is worth it. im personally intolerant of sacrificing the lives of one of my family members just so illegals could sneak into this country.

I always like it when people say desperate times call for desperate measures. Remember that the next time some antigun measures come down the pike in DC. Lets see how desperate things are then. Desperate measures are always used when what should have been done hasn't been tried, or has been done so poorly it failed.

But not to worry; the Bush administration has taken measures to tighten our borders. Now when you enter the US from either Canada or Mexico you will have to show your PASSPORT as a state issued driverslicense wil no longer be valid for re-entry. Way to go Bush. That will keep them out.

Close the border down, plain and simple. I know of several ways this can be done. I bet if you supplied the equiptment people would volunteer for it. The Army Engineer units can build it.
