| I envy you. I have two myself. Mine were bought through private sources and they are superb rifles and so, so patriotic to have and I paid $575 for one and $600 for the other and both are pristene. If you can get one through CMP, and you're satisfied with the possible quality then go for it. I still prefer seeing and feeling a rifle before I put out that much money and then taking the ever chance of being disappointed. At any rate.........GREAT RIFLES!

| Was expecting it by xmas from what I'd heard, but took them only a week  Rifle is swimming in cosmoline...looks almost unfired from when it was put together. Don't know much about 03s yet, but says 9-43 with flaming bomb on the barrel. Metal is excellent. Wood is good with a few dings in the fore-end. Can't look down the barrel yet. I love my other military guns but there is something about the garand and the 03 that seems just "right"...don't know how to describe it - I'm not much experienced compared to a lot of you but it just comes up right and fits your shoulder when picked up...I dunno. Will let you know how it shoots once I get all the cosmo off. Joe get one before they're all gone. Last edited by gunssb; 11-15-2005 at 08:05 PM. |

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | My 1903A3 was bought about 1962 through the military surplus program in which NRA participated. It cost $18.75 and some elbow grease cleaning up the cosmoline. Used it four deer seasons ago, after taking it to the firing range to check out the sights, and it was a thing of beauty. Since then it's been kept in my gun case. It had 7/43 stamped under the muzzle end of the barrel, along with the flaming bomb cartouch. As far as I can tell all parts are original Remington. In my opinion...that investment is better than investing in the stock market during a bull market. :right:
