1903 smith corona 03-a3
i recently found this smith corona in and room in my late grandmothers house. it is a 03-a3 still in the box from raritan arsenal and was shipped to the address on jan. 23 1958. the bolt is still in an oily rap and the stock is not a smooth finish . the serial # is 4805975. this gun is in mint condition. i looking for the back round of the gun and maybe the value. thanks for any help

Welcome Eakman,
If your 03/a3 is as Described value is approximately 1000.00 . The box and being a Smith-Corona that is in all original shape makes it a fine collectors piece. Don't touch it, or even clean it up...Leave it in its preserved state to keep its value! Rich

ty moose it is in mint cond. its in the original box but the tape is dry rotting
the bolt is in a oily rap and i belive it has not been shot since purchased in jan 1958 i have the box with the shipping documents as well as other marking on the shipping box thank you for the info \ |

Your rifle was probably made in 10/43 and if not rearsenaled worth big money.

I would think long and hard before selling that. It will only go up, up UP in value.f If you are set on selling it, I would have some knowledgable collector or an appraiser look at it. I don't think I would trust the info I received on the net. Not that we at G&G would intentionally give you the shaft, but we don't have the rifle right in front of us. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've been watching these lately. I really, really want to add one to my WWII collection, but they are out of my price range. I've seen quite a few go for $700 to $800 that are not nearly as collectible or as good a condition as you describe! I'd hold onto it! It says a lot about a country where in time of war industry stopped making postage meters, juke boxes, adding machines and typewriters to contribute to the war effort.

There was a time when you could buy through the NRA direct from the Government. Krag, Springfield, Garand, M1 Carbine, Colt 1911 firearms. Your Springfield (S/C) may have come this way?

Gosh, I'd love to have it. I've been wanting a Smith Corona for a while now. The problem is ... I'd have to shoot it and that's not the best destiny for such a wonderful find!

EAKMAN... are you serious that you're going to sell it? I kinda think you're nuts. Guns like that hold greater value to you after you sell them and you may find yourself years later seriously regretting it. If you were to keep onto it safely for another 20-30 years, you'll have a practically priceless piece of history.
