Springfield'03 Rebuild

I have an '03s/n 1264xxx. It has a C stock marked under the cutoff inside a box with RA-P and what appears to be an R above and to the left of the first R.

The bolt handle has a NS on top and .F under the bolt handle. I cannot find any other marks on the bolt.

The barrel is marked with, 9 44the 9 looks more like a g than a 9, the ordinance bomb and an S enclosed in a C or maybe a circle. The stacking swivel is stamped, the trigger guard is milled

I'd post pictures if I can figure out how to post them.

Is it a legit arsenal rebuild ? Paid $350 for it almost a year ago, but I got sick and wasn't able to check it out sooner. Any help, aid, or assistance would be appreciated

The barrel sounds like a Sedgley. Is it USMC marked? That does not mean it was used by the USMC, but it could be. I seem to remember their being issues with Sedgley barrels. Many were bent and sold off as scrap. Someone bought them and straightened them out. We need pictures.

From what I recall. Sedgley barrels were not installed by the arsenals at referb. They were done on a lower repair-replace basis usually at the unit level. So it would not be an Arsenal rebuild.

Found the below web site. He explains a few thing in the articles the link goes to. Sedgley did sell barrels to the marines, but having USMC doesn't mean it is a marine rifle, from what I think I read if something is marked USMC it might be a fake. The RA-P cartouch is for Raritan Arsenal, inspected by I believe a guy named Peterson. Canfield also goes on to say that the Army did get the sedgley barrels and used them to rebuild the 1903

Bruce N. Canfield - Gun Collector, Gun Collections, Author, Collector, and Authority on post-Civil War U.S. Military Weapons
I think I'll Email him and see what he says.
Thanks for the assistance and have a good 4th

There are several tell-tale characteristics to ID a USMC rebuild.
