Sporterized means altered from military configuration to sporter configuration, like yours. Some of the nicest hunting rifles I own and have owned started out as military rifles. However, with the current value of Springfields in military configuration, sporterizing usually reduces the value of the rifle considerably. 50% condition is kind of crummy, and $150 may be generous. I just bought a sporterized '03 in pretty nice shape for $225, with a scope. Doesn't mean it is not a useful hunting rifle.

Best rifle I ever owned or shot was a sporterized 03A3. It wasn't the fanciest or the prettiest just the best. They didn't even replace the stock just cut it off and stained it.

My first big game rifle was my grandfathers Remington 1903/A3 that he had sporterized back in the 1950's by Paul Jaeger. It is still one of my favorite rifles and I just spent quite a bit of money completely restoring it to almost new cond. There are quite a few bubba conversions out there but there are also many fine professional sporterized military weapons out there. Just don't think these are chopped up guns, some are works of art and worth as much if not more than the original military version.

Txhillbilly you do tell the truth, go look at the $15000 one in this thread, a real work of art and a beautiful custom 1903.
