| Front sight cover?
What is the story on a front sight cover for an 03-A3? I thought I read where they weren't really suppose to have one, or if they did they weren't meant to be permanent. I saw somone at the range that had one on his and he said they were suppose to have one. Whats correct?

I believe that the 03's did not have them... could be wrong but that was the impression that was made on me

Well I have heard that the 03s didn't have them, but they will fit the 03 or A3. I was thinking of just getting one so the sharp corner of the front sight didn't hang up in a zip up foam gun bag and rip the foam, or rip up a gun sock. Numrich has them.

They were to protect the sight on either rifle, but were not meant to be shot with them on. You can shoot with them on, won't hurt anything, but on most the sight picture is too crowded. Especially with the A3 which had a taller front sight. Now saying that the Marines made a taller version which gave more room. Note that they will scratch the finish installing and removing. Not a problem with worn rifles, more of a problem with nicer ones. The manuals say to remove it when firing.
