1903 Range Report

Well got her out to the range today. I think there is a little bit more to be desired as far as shrinking groups, but I'm happy with how it shot considering it was my first time shooting it. I didn't think there was much recoil, it was quite comfortable considering the amount of ammo I ran through it. Here is the vid I put on my YT acct.

Thumbs up

Nice range report.

I'd be lucky to even hit the target at 100 yds with my 03A3's iron sights.

Iron Colonel ~ Your videos are top-notch as your photos are. What a difference pictures and video make to a report. You had the targets, the rifle, the ammo and all set up at your workbench with all the equipment that it includes. I’ll be looking forward to your posts or threads in the future, with anticipation.

When I viewed your video or your range targets I was saying to myself, “Man, what fabulous groups he’s getting, much better than what I get!” Then you said that they were at 25 yards I was relieved because I thought they were at 100 yards. Your 100 yard targets are much like mine but with one large difference, you were using open sights and I was using a scope! Oh well, perhaps I can get mine a tad tighter with some well needed practice. Keep up the great threads/posts, we’ll be watching.

Well thanks for the compliment! I think with some more practice I can shrink those groups even more. I really do love shooting that rifle. I've got tons of .30-06 brass to load, and I'd like to find a load that will work well in my Garand and my Springfield. I am thinking of investing in one of the adjustable gas plugs for my Garand, since hand loading will be a lot cheaper than buying HXP from CMP!
