1911A1 Frame

Yesterday, I acquired a nice 1911A1 slide, complete.
It fits on my 1911 Colt frame perfect.
It doesnt work on my Springer frame in the sense that the ejector is too long and dummy loads dont clear the port because of premature indexing by the ejector.
Got such a good deal on slide, thought I would locate a frame and maybe build a stock 1911A1 on this slide, with some personal touches.
The slide is Parkerized black and has no name on it except Model 1911A1 US ARMY.
Barrel is unmarked except for 45 ACP.
I looked at Midway and Brownells for frame and need to go through FFL to get it.
I would rather go through a dealer locally and avoid the 'middle man' I know there will always be one in this transaction. but hate to have it shipped, etc.
Anybody have any ideas how to make this le$$ painful?

Bottom line is if you can't find one locally, you'll have to pay someone to ship it to your FFL. And you'll probably have to pay your FFL as well.

The frame is the part that will have to transfer through an FFL if you order one. You might as well look at other sources for frames, too. Brownells has frames that may be more in spec than RIA. e-gunparts has some frames on gunbroker.com

Your slide sounds like a mil-spec. Get the magnifying glass out and look for possible cracks. The thumb safety area and bushing area. If there are any cracks, I do not advise using it.

Think I may go with a RIA complete pistol for the price of a full frame.
The slide looks new with no wear on it.
