My primary use for guns is:

There are a bunch of different kinds of gun owners here. I wanted to do a little poll and see why you all use guns. I may leave out some options, if I do just post it in and I'll include it next time.

Thumbs up

You missed a category - for the historical interest!
I primarily indulge in personal target shooting (not competition), I enjoy their history and technology, and I have a few devoted to strictly home/self defense. I also insist on indulging my rights as an American Citizen - didn't need an AK (Sorry, Gunrunner . . . ), but I had to get one because I could, and it tweaks the noses of all Lib Gungrabbers that see me with it! Hehehe!
I'm also flat tickled and fascinated with the fact that we can buy and enjoy the same guns our most vehement enemies would have used against us in war years or decades before! :right:

I marked four choices and the poll appeared to accept those choices.

Recreational shooting
Hunting
Home Defense
Protect my Rights as an American

Target shooting - recreational / Weekend warrior
Hunting (includes camping protection and fishing protection)
Self Defense / Home Defense
Survivalism
Americanism (exercise of rights)

I chose all of these, I believe they are all good reasons to own a gun. But to tell you the truth, I just plain like shooting. My wife once asked me why did I like to shoot, I told her that it was like when I was a little boy and me and my friends would try and hit something with a rock, and the one who did hit it was cool, shooting is sort of like that.

Target shooting - competitive
I also clicked on this one because I am an Idiot, who generally hates polls, and I did not read the whole thing. I do not shoot Target shooting - competitive. I would like to though.

Stupid Polls
