I saw a Marlin 9MM Camp carbine in Cabela's in Hamburg, Pa. a few weeks ago, I had both the 9MM and the .45, liked them both but had to modify the bolt hold open to work from the left side of the receiver like a 1911. I didn't like the stock bolt hold open
which required pushing in on the charging handle, when there was a funtional bolt hold that worked off the empty Magazine. So I modified the magazine bolt hold by milling a slot in the left side of the receiver and installing a knob that I could pust up with my thumb to lock the bolt open. I didn't like the magazine well safety which wouldn't allow the carbine to fire without a magazine in place. Blow back method of operation, no recoil, and loose enough to allow it to operate well after it gummed up.
