G22...

Alright guys... I am look into getting a Walther G22. I have never shot one of these as of yet, but it looks like a fun little 22 to shoot... Any one have info? likes? dislikes? it looks like it could be made a little cheaply, but hard to tell in pictures... I have to say tho that i was pretty happy to find that they made a lefty model for us southpaws! Now i know they retail at 400, but i was curious if y'all thought they were worth that? I am just looking for a gun that will be a blast to take out to the desert and knock around a few golf balls or something... doesnt have to be amazingly accurate, but i would like a fairly accurate rifle... Thanks for your input

They are a cool concept, and well built (ie better than the P22). they look like a fun range toy, but at $400 msrp i can buy a 10/22 and trick it out with Volquartsen(sp) stuff and have an extremely accurate reliable 22. Just my .02

A majority of owners have had nothing but grief. For $260ish you can get a Beretta NEOS, or pay more for a Browning Buckmark. Ruger Mark II is good, stay away from the Mark IIIs.

MY dad has a nice mark II with the bull barrel and all that... i love it... hes got a 10/22 also... i am thinking i might just buy my own 10/22 and trick it out with a bull barrel, some nice optics, new stock, and i hear it is best to put a trigger job on them? i was just looking for something a little more unique... EVERYBODY owns a 10/22, but i guess thats what happens with such a great little gun right? still, i think i may look around a lil more first... i have some time before i can aford anything anyways, gotta put 4 new tires on the jeep for 630 bones... insurance for the next 6 months is coming due soon too... so itll be 2 weeks to a month before i can afford it... now i have heard from a few of y'all that mark III's are something to stay away from... im not exactly lookin for a 22 handgun right now... but outta the curiousity of a young mind... whats wrong with them? i havent shot or even held one, just curious why no one seems to like them.

I think he's talking about their bullpup carbine

not the P22

or were you suggesting the carbine versions of the Buckmark and Neos

Yes sir I was talking about the bullpup... but i will never complain about good suggestions like a buckmark or NEOS! i am just looking for another rifle before i get another handgun... I didn't know if anyone had shot one before or not... just looks like a fun way to pop through 10 rounds if you ask me!

Another option is to buy a Beretta Neos and get a carbine kit for it. IMHO it looks much better than and G22

My P22 was a horrific hunk of crap. The ppk is just cool b/c in was carried by a certain british super agent.

lmao... wow... i would never buy or not buy a gun because it was carried by someone in a movie! lol... but thats ok... i am thinkin i will probably go with the NEOS anywho... PROBABLY! i am very undecisive until i have no doubt in my mind about what i want.

oh i totally agree that its a neat little gun! i definitely wouldnt mind having one, and i think it adds to the neatness that it was carried by bond, BUT i just meant that i wouldnt buy one on that reason alone! I have never shot one, but it just looks like a nice compact gun that would be a blast to have! just my 1 and a half cents worth

My only complaint about the PPK series is a lack of a slide release lever. Other than that, I'd love to have one

I've been looking for a 22 to plink at the range and was going to look at the P22, but I've seen some negative posts here toward it. I've never talked to anyone who has had one, what problems are there with it? Thanks for the info.

The P22's are kinda hit and miss when it came to quality. The one I had wasn't bad but there are others that had much worse. If you're looking for a inexpensive plinker pistol I'd suggest looking at Ruger MKII, MKIII series, and the Baretta U22 Neos they are all about the same price as the P22
