Hello

Hi all. Figured I should introduce myself. My name is Brad, and I live in Johnstown, Ohio, which is a little town outside of Columbus, Ohio. I grew up shooting 22's almost every weekend. Anyway, now I am on the hunt for a new 9mm. Right now I have a Hi-Point 9mm. It is ok, but I would like to get a better one. Any opinions is fine with me. Hope to learn a lot here.

Welcome to Gun and Game BRS.
There is a kinda love/hate relationship around here with High Points.....as I am sure you will quickly find out. So you are looking for a better 9mm?
What kind of price range are you working with?

Welcome aboard. What you get will depend on how much you can afford. Also are you dead set on a 9mm? would prefer something with a little more punch?

Welcome aboard! I'm gonna have to agree with the rest in that we need a little more information before we can give appropriate suggestions. Whats your price range, is this going to be a range toy or a self defense weapon or both. Do you prefer a polymer framed gun (glock, XD, steyr) or a traditional metal framed gun (sig, baretta, etc)

LOL, no you haven't scared me away. Just been very busy for the last couple days to answer. Used is not out of the question. More than likely going to get used to keep the cost down. I don't think my wife will let me spend more than $300 on another gun. The gun is mainly for home defence with some range shooting. I try to go about once a month. I like 9's for because of the cheap price on rounds and because of the size. The frame of the gun doesn't matter either. The Hi-Point I have now is the first hand gun that I have ever had.

For that price range you can probably pick up a Taurus or a used Ruger.
I would opt for the Taurus.

My crew chief just spent $300 on a new CZ99 with 3 15 round mags. I've got one, it's heavy, which takes alot of the recoil, fun to shoot, but you'll need suspenders to wear it on your belt.
