| 300 grain .338 I'm curious about the Sierra 300 grain .338 bullet. According to the Sierra bullet web sight this bullet has a sectional density of .370 and a ballistic coefficient of .720! :jaw: These are the most impressive bullet aerodynamics I've come across so far. I'd think that any game in the world would be no match for this bullet. The catch is that the bullet is a match boat tail hollowpoint, and I'm suspicious the hollow point would just separate the jacket a little bit and then tumble on impact based on the cut view of this bullet. Does anybody know whether this would work well as a hunting round in a .338 Lapua, .338-378 Weatherby, heck even .338 Ultra for anything that walks the earth? Who else makes a 300 grain .338 bullet? |

| Super Moderator ![]() | I dunno, but that bullet is probably designed for target and sniping applications, which is what the 338 Lapua was intended for from the start. The 300 RUM is by comparison a good low cost alternative with not too far behind ballistics, much less powder, much less expensive factory ammo, and more affordable rifles.
