Advice on scopes

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I want to put a scope on my G3, but don't really know whats good and whats not. As of now I really like the BSA Mildot scopes. They've come in 4-16, 6-24 and 8-32 power. I'm not wanting to spend alot of money on a scope, and these have a good price on them for what they are, atleast I think they do. So what do you all think of BSA? I'm not really going to be using this for anything else but at the range so....

While I don't know much about BSA, I must comment about the magnification your looking at. I'd look for a 3-9X40 or a fixed 3X40 for a G3. Anything bigger than that is way too much scope for the gun in my opinion. About how much would you be comfortable spending?

I'd look for a Bushnell Trophy 3-9X40 MillDot, they can be had for 100-150

Well, from www.riflescopes.com I can get the Trophy 3-9x40 MillDot and some Butler Creek lens caps for $115.90. Now I need some rings. Cabela's has some Weaver 1" See-Through Rings for $25.00. Will those work for that scope?

Yeah, they are. I picked those because they would sit up a little higher. I got to looking last night and that front sight on the G3 does stick up a little.

Edit... Come to think of it, I hope that doesn't push the scope up so high I have problems with the stock being to low.

You can always get a pad to raise the cheek rest if your eye doesn't line up with the scope

Ok, now I just have one other problem. Do I order it now and not tell my wife, or have her buy it for me for Christmas? If I go ahead and get it, and not tell her, that means I can also still get her to buy me all the stuff I want to build an AR. Ohhhhh, I can see my collection coming together......

That sir, is a question I cannot answer. It all depends on how much trouble you'd be in if she did find out. Good Luck!

Edited to add: Post pics when you do get everything put together

I will. I'm supposed to take a vacation(just to use up some days) in the next two weeks. Kindof funny how all this falls during that same period of time .

I just called a local shop here in town. He said it was $108 wholesale, so I don't know if he'll add 10% on or not. Even if he does I should still be able to get it for $125. Which you take say $100 of the web and add shipping, it's probably about the same. Add $25.00 for rings, not to bad. Hmmm......
