Large ring Mauser

My dad has a large ring mauser in 7X57, I do not know alot about it. It has a factory 28" tube and has MOD 08 on the side Can anyone here shed some light on this for me, let me know what to look for to find out what exactly it is.
Thanks
Jon

Roger that, keep us posted. If you find any pics online that are identical or close, linking to those would be good too, explaining any differences.

All the 08's I've seen were made for Brazil. Don't know if they all were but the ones I've seen were.

This is a pic I found appears to be the same as mine

Mine has a diffrent rear sight the this

It is more like an SKS in the way it used an "ramp" type rear sight that has adjustment up to 20 I think. Is this a god action? or is it junk?? I would love to "Sporterize it so the wifey can use it.

It's a good action but I know from experience sporterizing can get expensive.
