| Registered User | Browning BLR Lever Action Rifle. I purchased a new Browning BLR "Lightening" lever action rifle in .30-06 a few months ago. This rifle has the gloss walnut pistol grip stock and forearm. I have always been using any of my four bolt action Remington 700's and Winchester model 70 rifles in different calibers over the years. But seeing the features the BLR has, and it's close design to a bolt action I just had to have one. I have deer hunted with my friends BLR in .358 caliber with great results, and very accurate too. But I bought mine in .30-06 for my regular hunts in Colorado for deer and Elk there. I'm getting just under an inch groups at 200 yards from a bench and sand bag rests at the rifle range, using Federal Premium .30-06 165 grain ammo. When I switch to 180 grain Federals, my groups open up close to an inch and a half at 200 yards. I'm amazed at the accuracy. I'm using a Leupold VX-2 3X9X40 scope, with Burris Signature "Z" rings and Burris mounts. Anyone here on the forum that owns a Browning BLR, what's your experience results and calibers you are using? I plan to buy a second BLR in a magnum caliber soon also. Last edited by arover2; 10-20-2005 at 10:21 AM. |
