I've shot one and was impressed with it overall, very accurate and reliable. The only area where it could use a little work is the trigger, its heavy and not very smooth. maybe that'll smooth out after a couple thousand rounds. I've had not experience with the Ruger or the Hi-Point, but based on the experience I've had with other Hi-Points, I'd steer clear. Thats just my experience though, there are many people who have had much better times with Hi-points, but I'm not one of them
