I use a tru-glow 4x32 fixed scope on my Ruger 10/22.
It works perfectly for me. Its just a fun gun, nothing serious. Its got milldots which works really well with a .22lr because they drop pretty fast, but i know exactly which dot to use for whatever distance I'm shooting.
The only one I have a scope on is an old Marlin 25 with an older Bushnell Banner that my 30-06 managed to release the nitrogen out of. It works ok but fogs up if I take it out of the cool house into heat. I doubt I've fired it in the last three years.
RNC, it depends on what you want. I have a Tasco 3-9x40 mounted on my 10/22. Then I have a Barska 3-9x40 mounted on my Marlin Model 99. Then I have an older Weaver mounted to my Glenfield Model 25. On my Ruger 10/22 I mounted the scope rail that Ruger offers for the 10/22, and it works good for it. On my Glenfield I used the see thru scope mounts that fit the factory rails. I put regular rings on my Marlin Model 99. But by doing that the scope is to low and there is less than an 1/8 of an inch between the scope and the wood tha covers the barrel. But I did buy some rings that were raised That fit the factory rails. I just have'nt put them on yet. Take a look at the pics I have posted and that will give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.
i use a TASCO 2.5x18, came with the rifle in 1960, was my buddys dads gun and he gave it to me, still a good scope bein 50+ years old its on my mossberg 352kb
I use a 3x9x32 on my marlin 22 mag. Have a 3x9x40 on my savage 22lr semi auto. No scope on my remington pump. All work great for me. But wanting at least a 4x12 for the magnum I use the savage to hunt tree rats.
I just use a nikko sterling mountmaster 4x32 with mildot reticle on my old .22 and attached to that is a led lenser p7 with pressure switch which I use for lighting up possums when doing night shoots on farms.

I use a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 mil-dot. I like it alot. the only down side is it dose not focus down to 25 yards. so i have to turn the power down to half to get a good picture at 25 yards. And its 1/8th per click... thats good and bad. To shoot out to 200 yards i have to turn the knob 5 times! its easy to get lost. over all im happy with it.
