| Senior Member | Looking for a good small 22 pistol. Opinions ? Yeah. I posted some of this on another thread, so if you have read some of it before I apalogize. But as I was saying, I am looking for a nice little 22 to carry with me while I am fly fishing to bust some snakes. I already have a Mark 2 on lay-away. But this is hardly easy to pack. I also do know that bird shot shells are very wimpy and don't cycle well, if at all in a semi-auto. So I guess I am going to need a revolver or maybe a single shot. I have a few 22s on my list to get including a Walther P22 3" and a Taurus PT22, and the Bersa 22 Any Ideas I could use? What do you guys use for charming some snakes while out and about? |

| Moderator ![]() | I like the Heritage Arms Roughrider single-action .22LR revolver. Performs as good as the Ruger Single-six, at about half the price. I have an older imported .22WMR revolver by Tanfoglio, that is the grandfather of the Heritage (cylinders are almost a drop-in swap!), that I often use ratshot in for knocking down carpenter bees at the range. (Not all those .30 caliber holes in the rafters are made by bullets . . . ) If you go cruising the pawnshops, you might come across a nice old H&R or High Standard Doublenine revolver. Both are good shooters for a decent price. In single-shots, I have the 10 inch octagon barrel for my Contender, in .22LR. With the TC Lobo 3X scope, it's a pretty good shooter.

| Senior Member | P22 I wouldn't get the Walther P22. I had one for a couple months and put about 2500 rds through it, and everytime it would fire one of the pins that holds the action together would work its way out. The only thing keeping it in was that the safety kept it from coming completely out. I would look at getting a Beretta Neos or a Ruger if I were you, these are cheaper and better quality than the Walther

| Senior Member | Thanks for the link.:right: I have been there before. Taurus has many nice pistols, and good quality too. These still seem a little to big perhaps. I will go to my dealer this weekend and pay some on my Ruger Mark 2. I will check on some these while I am there to see if they are to large or not. What about these http://www.naaminis.com/lrifle.html I like these but they have no trigger guard. The built in holster one looks pretty cool. Anyone have one of these? I might not need a revolver. If I have a small semi-auto I know they won't eject, but I can shoot it single shot manuly by recocking after every shot. The bird shot does fit in most clips pretty well. |

| Moderator ![]() | If you do a search, you'll find the old thread on the NAA mini revolver. Klaus has one he likes, but I could never handle one - it's just too small for my big hands. I had a local shooting buddy who liked it too - he kept one in his shirt pocket, and we never knew it was there. .22WMR - better than no gun at all, I guess.

| Senior Member | Check out this one. http://www.bondarms.com/index.html Wow. Pretty cool but, I only need one in a 22 not a 5" 410ga pistol. |

| Senior Member | I heard good things about the Berreta Neos. But all the ones I have seen are a little ugly to my taste. But that's just me and I am not knocking them. I am sure they are very accurate and dependable pistol. The Bobcat is probably better suited for what I am needing. Something small. Because I will have my Ruger out soon for more target purposes. |

| Senior Member | Hey nice little pistol Dana. I like it. I found these on gunsamerica.com for around the $400 dollar mark. Not to bad considering what the MSRP is. A little out of my price range though. I might have my friends keep a look out for one of these. I also am liking the Taurus Model 94 Ultra light. Only 18oz! I like that. About $100 dollars or so less by what I am seeing. Some good recomendations. Thanks |

| Senior Member | I think BigDog had a good idea about checking the pawnshops. I had the Hi Standard double nine many years ago. Great gun. Maybe bigger than you want though. In my opinion, the ultra lights are too much money. I like them a lot and have shot them but I just like the good old stainless or high carbon steel. If they weigh more, that means you get more for your money!! |

| Senior Member | True. As far as revolvers go those are the ones I am seriously considering. Also the NNA pistols. Right up my lane but I am worried about the safety on them. No trigger guard is not something I am crazy about. Last thing I want is to come up on a nice copperhead and fumble around and end up shooting myself and snakebit. (no pun friend) But I lean very heavy towards the Taurus Pt22. I just keep coming back to it. Small, simple, functional, and (hopefully) durable. Sounds like a winner to me. |
