I like the .22 Magnum because I DO NOT have to reload it. With all the other calibers I reload, it's nice to not have to chase the brass, yet get more "ooph" out of the shot than just a .22LR.
My Rugger 77/22 in .22 WMR, with 3-9x40 scope, is VERY accurate. I would not hesitate to take any small critters, even yotes, out to 150 yards with it. Since I also have the Ruger Single Six in .22LR and .22WMR, it makes a nice pair for varmint control.
I used to own a lot of Hornet guns, but sold them all. I figured it was redundant to have a Hornet and a .223, especially when owning .22 WMR to fill the gap between .22LR and .223.

Just to alleviate the liberals, in Louisianna, as well as Florida and other states, if you are on Private Property, wild hogs are considered Farm Animals, and there is no bag limit, and may be taken
year-round.

I've really gotten into my Marlin 25mn for Jack's and 'Yotes .
With that lil' round , 100yd shots on a "yote will put it down and not harm the hide. Jacks are as good as dinner on the table.
However , when I know that I'm hunting anything further , I pull out the 6.5x55 Mauser.
I've got a cheapo Tasco scope on my Marlin but it holds very well...and those who know how to speedfire an Enfield , same can be done with the Marlin 25mn and stay reasonably on target. |

I picked up a Henry GB the other day to go along with my Ruger Sinlge Six, Both in .22mag. I have only shot on box of fifty through the Henry but I can say that it is suprizzingly quite. I forgot my ears but it was no louder that my Remington 34 in .22lr, it may have been quieter.

Remington decided to offer the 597 in .22 WMR...AND in Blaze Camo...
I may have to actually buy something that ain't a Calico or Marlin rifle for a change...LOL
The 597 is semi-auto....so it is INDEED a rarity these days
Kinda funny that 597 is 795 backwards...LOL
