| Moderator ![]() | Go with a classic - Winchester 75T or Remington 521-T or a nice Mossberg 144LSB. All in that price range, just check Auction Arms or GunsAmerica. Your local FFL can order it for you. Or for a new rifle, it's hard to beat a CZ452.

| Senior Member ![]() | 10/22 makes a nice starting platform as stated above. I have several and all work well. For a lever gun Ruger makes a nice 96/22 that you only have to pump a little.

| Senior Member | If you are putting it up for a vote, I'll vote for the 10/22. Great little rifles. My 10/22 is also untouched again except for the scope. When I take the family out shooting everyone wants to shoot the 10/22, nice little rifle, accurate as heck, and no kick. |
