| Legality in CA of putting MP5 folding stock on 10/22? I have an MP5 airsoft gun, and I was considering all of my options for making my own folding stock (or buying one, or any number of things). I noticed that I could cut the reciever clean off and just use the pistol grip/trigger guard/stock assembly for my 10/22 and keep it looking pretty nice. I know the Butler Creek metal wire folding stock is legal in CA for the 10/22 I'm buying (the 18 inch barrel, not the 16 inch - 16'' is illegal with that one), mainly because it's sold at a local store. Just to make sure, what's the minimum folded length for a .22? I want to break that by at least one inch. Also, I can pull the entire shoulder stock piece off of the assembly, too - is having just a pistol grip on there without the shoulder part illegal even though I'm only 18...? I really despise California's laws, and if anyone understands them a bit better than I, I'd really appreciate input. By the way, random thought - I joined the army yesterday! =D I ship out in the beginning of October. The MOS is 15 Tango. That's a UH-60 repairer - basicly, I'm a mechanic that rides along on Black Hawk missions and fixes anything that might need fixing or decides to put the bird down/return to base. Perfect for my eventual two-year goal of heli pilot. |

| Senior Member | It would do you a lot of good to read the california firearms booklet, and follow up by reading the actual law. 16 inch barrel minimum 26 overall length (measured when folded, special california rule) Since it's NOT centerfire rifle, none of that california AW baloney applies (you can have pistol grip with folder with ....). Visit http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/ While you're at it, you might get yourself a california-legal off-list AR while you still can, be sure to read the FAQ California AR/AK "Series" Assault Weapon FAQ |
