Cheap .22 semi-autos seldom work well. The Ruger and Browning Buckmark are pretty much the standard for the semi-auto pistol. A used one can be had at a gun/pawnshop for a decent price. The Phoenix Arms .22 pistol works well for some, less so for others. It's about the only 'cheap' pistol I'd consider, if I just couldn't swing a Ruger or Buckmark.

Ruger 22/45 MkII. Best there is. unless you want the newer 22/45 MkIII. Some have had troubles with the loaded chamber indicator, and such, but it's supposed to be fixed now... or sumthin.

ive done some research and i dont know if i want a buck mark standard , or a ruger mk3 i think the buck mark looks cooler and i think its cheaper but i dont know what i want. does the buck mark have like a bolt that blows back like the ruger does? or does the whole top of the gun blow back? are they both rimfire? yes, the buckmark is blowback (the bolt only) operated. and yes they are both 22lr. my vote goes for the buckmark.

I have gone with both the Buckmark and the Ruger. The wife likes the handle of the Buckmark better but likes the Ruger better for chambering ease. I like the Buckmark better for disassembly and reassembly. I have also bought a Jennings (broke it), a Taurus PT-22, and an AR7 type pistol version. I don't recommend the Jennings at all. The PT-22 can be found for as little as $169 at the right gun show or dealer. I prefer the Buckmark over the rest, personally.

There were inital issues that were solved. That said, my friend has a Walther P-22 he likes a lot. The Browning is not a bad choice. My brother has one, shoots good. I stick with my Ruger. Just familiar with it mostly the reason.

I have a walther p22 and shoot it at least twice a week. It has about 5000 round through it with no problems. If you buy one MAKE SURE it is a post feb 06 build. Thats when walther instituted the "improved" model modifactions. the early walthers were jam-o-matics. Also a buckmark may not fit you well if you have small hands. I treid out about 9 or 10 different .22s before i bought my walther and it was the only one that fit me well.

Used Hi-Standard,cheapest is Duramatic,easiest takedown,reasonably accurite,and utterly dependable,can't ask for much more,except for availability perhaps,check gun shows,it will be worth it imo.:lucky:

I like that walther. i would love to get a chance to shoot one. I would suggest the Walther P22. i know beretta makes a bobcat(or something like it) in .22 LR but i have heard of jamming problems. I have a nice .22 wheel gun that i would never part with

| Cheap 22......
I personally would buy a well proven target pistol such as a Ruger Mark II, Ruger 22/45, or a Browning Buckmark. Look for one used in good condition and you will save money and still have a quality 22. I have all of them and you will be happy with any of them. |
