restoring bbl. finish?

ive got this groovy new to me bull bbl. 10-22 and it has something on the bbl. it doesnt hurt anything but i want it looking as nice as possible what can i do at home for this?

0000 Steelwool and good gun oil - rub the rust off. Looks like an SS barrel? No blueing to worry about. People think SS doesn't rust - but if neglected, it certainly can.

In addition to Big Dog's suggestions, I use the following chemicals for rust removal. If one doesn't get it, usually the other will. They include:

-Naval Jelly Rust Dissolver

-Tub'n Sink Rust Stain Remover

-Duro Rust Remover

All three are contained in 8 oz plastic bottles. They, and additional types of rust removers, should be available at most hardwares.

Be Careful if it is silver coated, as it may be Silver Ceramic Coat. It is a Sprayed and Baked finish, and steel wool or sandpaper will Ruin it !

will naval jelly eat the finish? i have a jar. CLP,CLR ,steelwooland oil all didnt work

yes naval jelly will eat the coating whatever it is. i like that silvery color

Naval Jelly is Phosphoric acid, it will eat a lot of stuff !

i think im stuck with the rusty lookin stuff.if you look closely you can see it and it bugs me

In that case, I'd use Alumahyde II in satin silver from Brownell's . . .

yes something like that is the only way out for this . because....I AM GOING TO HAVE A PRETTY RIFLE! come !!!! or high water that $300 guns gonna look as good as i can get it.
