Thumbs up Bought a Henry "Goldenboy" .22lr Lever rifle last night!

Went to Cabela's in Dundee last night before work and got the Goldenboy Henry in .22lr for $392 out the door.
Sweet little rifle...almost went for the .22 Magnum, but stuck with the .22lr

Henry Repeating Arms Rifles
Can't wait to shoot the little guy....
Brasslite receiver...
Brass buttplate...
You can order a brass forestock ring to replace the black one that comes with it (which I'm gonna do right now!)

Yeah, those are nice. My uncle has one and it's real sweet. I'd probably get one myself if I didn't already have a .22 lever Winchester.

Joe, are you planning on buying the big loop or cantilever scoping it?

I did and it takes on a new perspective.

I see they are selling a brass metal barrel/foreend band now to replace the plastic stock one.

Good luck and I enjoy. They're great little rifles with the smoothest lever action known to mankind.

Thumbs up

I would not suggest scoping it - the stock angle is wrong. And leverguns just don't look 'right' with a scope - you never saw The Duke with a scope Winchester!

But knowing NRAJoe's eyes, he may have to . . .

You'll be pleased with it, Joe! Lots of owners over on RFC love the Goldenboy. Gotta get one myself - it's a dang sight purtier than the regular H001 I have!

I fail to see what the stock angle has to do with anything scope related.....whatever the comment means.

I disagree with the idea that a lever action doesn't look right scoped. I like mine and have nothing but compliments.

John Wayne never used a scope because: 1) he portrayed someone from the mid 1869s when few, few people even saw a scope let alone have one and 2) his britches were too tight in the crotch and his eyes were crossed anyway. True!

To each his own, I gues, though.

I'm gonna have to go with Big Dog on this one. I much prefer an unscoped levergun to a scoped, but that's just me. As you said, to each his own.

Stock angle - the comb drops way too low - compare a pic of it to the H001. You'd need a raised cheekpad to maintain a good cheekweld.
As to looks, that's a very subjective thing. My Marlin 336 DOES wear a 4X scope. My Henry H001 and Marlin 39A do not - they just don't seem right with glass on 'em.

Thumbs up Henry rifle service rocks!

Wow!
What service!
When I bought the rifle it looked perfect in the box...but upon getting it home there were two abrasions on the brasslite receiver.

Needless to say I wasn't too happy but I just shrugged my shoulders and told myself to pay more attention next time.

Well two weeks ago I got a catalog that showed replacement engraved receivers that you can have up to 20 words of your own script engraved on it also. (Which I'm saving for now!...$157 shipped)

So I emailed Henry last night and asked them if I could buy a regular receiver to replace the abraded one.

Well lo and behold, today I get an email from Mr. Imperato himself (owner/CEO) telling me he is sending a REPLACEMENT regular brasslite receiver AT NO CHARGE!

I am pleasently shocked at this!

Naturally they checked my warranty registration and saw I bought it two months ago...

I told him "Mr. Imperato you rock!"

Slickest little .22 lr I've ever had...saving up for the .22 mag next...

I've had my Goldenboy in 22 LR for several years now. You won't regret it. It's by far the smoothest lever action gun I've ever fired. And as far as Mr.Imperato replying personaly to your email - that's the way he does business. You'll find their customer service, if you ever need it, is outstanding.

As to what Dale said i disagree stock angle is a major factor when scoping an underlever,i have recently sold mine and it was scoped and because the angle was to low i found it uncomfy to look through the scope or to shoot long distances. Scoped underlevers? there like ham and jam they just don't go

Joe,

Looks like a real beauty.

I love .22 levers and pumps. May have to get one of those goldenboys one day.

I too would choose the plain .22 over the .22 magnum as I would be using it for plinking and the .22 ammo is a lot cheaper.
