| Does anyone have any information on a Marlin 98 semi-auto. I know that its tube fed through the stock, and that it is an older rifle. I was wondering if these guns are any good, or if they have jamming problems etc...and what a good price for a one would be. Thanks |

| I own one that is quite old (25-30 years), and it has always shot very well. At one point, it had jamming issues, but I realized that the gun was NEVER cleaned, and had probably had 5000 rounds shot through it. I completely stripped the gun down, scrubbed and cleaned every part, put oil where needed, and it works like a charm now. It's also quite accurate with iron sights. I'm not a huge fan of tube feed, but it seems to be more reliable than a magazine. |

| Are you sure you don't mean the Marlin Model 88? It's an early butt-tube fed auto-loader with a tubular receiver of sheet metal and a beefier stock than is seen these days on .22LR rifles. Mine is fairly reliable, and extremely accurate. It really needs a better sight system - but has no provision for a scope or peep sight. Trigger is a bit mushy, but it's the nature of the beast. Stripping for cleaning is an adventure the first time, but once you know the knack, it's not bad.

| I can't remember what model I have. All I know is that it has a wooden stock, is tube fed, holds about 9 rounds, and is a marlin semi-auto. |
