it is the lowest acceptable/ saleable grade of rimfire ammo, if it was any worse it would be scrapped. symptoms of bulk pack ammo, inconsistent ignition, erratic velocity. specifically speaking of federal ammo, the bulk pack is the last step before it gets sold to employees at a huge discount as factory seconds. if its worse than that it gets scrapped.

Bulk pack has it's place. But it is what it is. Some people get lucky and there rifle shoots great with it. I have a couple rifles like that myself. It's nice to be able to shoot with decent accuracy for inexpensive. I buy as much .22 as I can, ammo doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper.

My Marlin 60 would eat up the Federal ammo. My problem was with the remington stuff. Clean, dirty, didn't matter. Your gun may just have particular tastes. Just have to try it and find out. Now my Savage really likes CCI, and my Son's will use it all. Ya just never know.

I haven't found the Federal Champion yet, but it's supposed to be the same as the old Federal Lightning loads, which my guns do like. I got two 325-round boxes of Federal Target Match the other day - pretty good stuff, with a lubricated lead 40-grain bullet. At $12/325 rounds, it's a tad expensive - but my bolties love it! I'll use the cheaper bulk stuff with the semi-autos.
