Please identify my scope base (picture)

This is my carbine with the scope mounted. When I'm shopping for a new sight (I want to get a red dot) and the description says the sight fits a "Weaver" mount I have no idea if it will fit my gun because I don't know what Weaver is. I was at a gun store and showed my carbine to an employee and he said the scope they had in stock wouldn't fit my mount. Do I have some non-standard mount?

Go get you a red dot and mount it. Use the same mounts and rings you have on your gun. Be sure to get a 1" red dot (that's 1" tube diameter). That guy who told you that, don't know chit....I put a red dot on my 10/22 but took it off and put the scope back on. Then I put the red dot on my AR and took it off and put the scope back on, then I put the red dot on my .22 pistol and took it off. Then I put the red dot in the safe and that's where it sits, now. But, I just HAD to try one. It's OK out to 50 yards, but the red dot subtends too much of the target at longer distances. YMMV.

BUT it WILL "fit" on your gun.
And that IS a Weaver base on your 10/22.

Most reddots are 1mm not 1 inch.Be sure you have the right rings.A Weaver stile mount uses wider clamps on the bottom of the rings. The tightening bolt sets in a groove across the mount to keep it from slipping which is probably the first thing that will happen with those rings. I agree,I would go buy a reddot and mount it in my safe and put a scope on the rifle. sam.

That IS a Weaver Base. And a 1" red dot, again I say (1" tube diameter) will drop right into those rings you have on your gun. and if you get everything tightened up as you should, it ain't gonna slip.

i just put a scope on my 10/22 and that is not a weaver mount, that is a mount that has ruger rings that that grip on to the side of the base., it does not have a grooves through throught the middle of the base. you can however remove the screws that holds that base on and put weaver style bases on. or you can get a red dot scope that hase a 1 inch tube and put those rings on it.

Damfino, Sam. But we're in agreement. He'd be just as well off to throw it away and hip shoot, if he wants to put a red dot on his gun. But, I had to learn the hard way, too. Sometimes it just bee's that way. JB
