I just picked up a new silver Nikon Prostaff 4x32 Model 6306 rimfire scope for the Marlin model 60SS I have on the way. The scope should match nicely with the Marlin's stainless barrel. Anyone have recommendations on a good, solid set of mounting rings - preferably silver in color - for this scope and the Model 60? Nikon provides a set of rings with the scope, but I don't know if they are any good. Thanks for any opinions\recommendations. |

Well, my honest opinion is not to skimp on the rings. I've tried several less expensive types on my Marlin 60 and they all have slid back due to the impact of the bolt hammering against the nylon thingie at the back of the receiver.

A dab of blue LocTite where the rings contact the receiver will help secure it. I found some silver rings at the gunshow some years back - I did the same thing. Silver 3-9X32 Simmons scope on my stainless-barreled Model 60SB. Looks sharp! Shoots good too.
