| Sweet Rommy 69 Trigger Pull
Hey All, I went through some springs I had and found one that's much lighter than the stock in my Romanian. I believe it's the replacement mainspring from an H&R revolver, but I found it to be too light for that particular task (light strikes) so I put the heavier stock spring in on the new guide. Anyway, I figured I'd slap it in the Rommy's bolt and see how it did. I didn't figure on having much problem since this was inline and besides, it didn't have to move a huge hammer. No wasted power and very efficient. ![]() The preliminary results looked good. While the stock spring really smashed the rim, the new spring left a respectable dent. I loaded up with subsonics and went out. I lit up an area well, and fired 11 Remington subsonic rounds into a backstop. All rounds ignited, and I had no hangfires. This is a good omen as I've found that if I'm going to have ignition troubles in rimfire, it's going to be with a Remington round, in my experience. I cannot find my trigger gauge. It's old and I really need to get a new one anyway. However, my trigger finger tells me it's between 2 and 4 pounds now, but certainly not 5. I have a pistol with a double action pull of 8lbs and single action of 5, and it's not has heavy as the single action pull. It feels almost... just right. The one further thing I'd like to change on the pull is the length. It almost feels like a light Glock pull now, but I will not take any metal off the sear engagement without having a backup, just in case I do take too much off. However, I'm happy for now. Before, it was a struggle to hold the rifle steady against the pull of the trigger, and now the trigger breaks right about when I feel it should. I would find myself with breath blown all the way out and struggling with the trigger. I suspect this is why I'd end up with one or two fliers on most targets. Now, the trigger is nice and lets off right about when I want it to. Heck, since it's primarily a hunting rifle, I may even leave the long pull on the second stage there. It makes for a good surprise let off, almost like a revolver, and it's smooooth since I stoned the faces a while back. We'll see how it shoots, and I'll make my decision from there. If it shoots better I'll post pics. Josh <><
