Also if you have a centerfire pistol see about a conversion kit.

| Old .22's
There were some pretty good .22's out there, The IverJohnson was one, another was the HighStandard sport king series "little bro has a early model and has shot the bejezzus out it" Whitney Wolverene .22's were nothing to look down youe nose at either. |

A High Standard was a great little .22 Almost all Olympic shooters 50 years ago used them. I have the less expensive Duramatic but its built like a tank. Still in the original box with the manual and made in 1953. And it has a quick barrel takedown. Lots of choices but the MKII is still the one I'd get. Get stainless, longer barrel or the bull barrel and a million rounds of ammo. It aint gonna break. |

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned S&W's new .22 semiauto. I'm a Ruger MK bigot also, but I've seen guys shooting those new S&W's (for $195 new) as well as the Ruger bull barrels. Our local sportsmen's club has an indoor bullseye shoot the first Sunday of every month, and this whole last winter S&W would win one, then the Ruger, then back to the S&W. I don't know about YOU guys, but my Ruger MK bulls certainly cost more than $195 new, and I believe the initial thread ask for best value. Just .02 worth.
