I'd get the model 60. Cheap and reliable.

Is the Ruger worth the extra money? Easy question. Yes Put in a 50 round teardrop magazine and roll them cans. Better get a couple of bricks while you are at wallyworld.

Our Wallyworld Superstore has stopped selling everything but blackpowder long guns. We are in a very rural area. I thought it may be a company policy but with you all talking about buying 10/22's there, I guess it is not.

| Senior Member | our wallyworld has stopped selling any guns and when they run out of ammo their not going to restock it anymore. the clerk at the sporting goods dept. told me it was due to the new mgr. is an anti-gun nut.

I think it's worth it. $200 is not a lot of money for a gun. I don't know if I would rely on one of those aftermarket magazines like the guy in the video. I have found them to be unreliable. Still, the 10-rd. factory magazines including those cool clear ones are very reliable and and don't stick out like a lot of other detachable .22 magazines do.

I own the RUGER, The iron sites are spot on at 50yds. I can't speak of the MARLIN though. As stated above, the accesories available for the RUGER are amazing.

I also own a Ruger 10/22 and I don't think they are worth the extra money over the Marlin Model 60. The only reason to get the Ruger is if you plan on spending hundreds of dollars making it shoot better. In which case, you might as well buy a TC R-55 and shoot it right out of the box.

Depends on your situation are you buying it with allowance money that took months of saving? O r do you have a steady income from working. If its saving the allowance funds I woul go with the marlin. If its constant paycheck I would buy the ruger. Both are good shooters but I thing ruger is worth the price.

The reason I would choose the Ruger is you can buy aftermarket extractors, firing pins, stocks, Barrels, buffer kits, and a host of other parts. The marlin while being a good gun if you mess up the barrel its time to send to smith to fix or buy new. With the Ruger you unscrew 2 bolts attach new one and start shooting. My rugers are almost 40 years old and still going strong, and were used every year by about 30 kids for gun training.

They are both great guns. The Marlin 60 action has been around for nearly 50 years; much longer than the 10/22.
