| Senior Member  |  mossberg model 817 .17 HMR Whats up guys, I was checking out the .17 HMR rifles for sale and found a mossberg model 817 .17 HMR, for only 137.50! Thats cheap compared to a .22 magnum that costs 189.99. What are your thoughts on the mossberg 817. IS it a good gun or the bottom of the barrel, just looking for some advise or stories,Thanks.

| Senior Member  | from my experience with mossberg rifles i would say that its not going to be of very good quality but it may be fairly accurate if you are looking to get a new magnum rimfire like the 17 HMR or 22WMR i would go with a 22mag cuzz the 17 is more of a target round not that it would be a bad hunting round just that the magnum has more nockdown power and can be just as fast and just about as accurate as the 17 the marlin 983 is a good shooter in 22Mag i would not get a mossberg rifle but their shotguns are good
