| Marlin model 60 SB Accuracy i just recently a new Marlin Model 60 SB in stainless and i was wondering if a stainless steel barrel would affect accuracy verses a regular barrel. and in general i was disappointed with my accuracy results. heard that rimfire barrel get more accurate as you shoot them is that true? i have shot a little mor than a hundred rounds through it since i got it last week when im takin a bout accuracy im talkin about the bullet paturn. over the last 3 years i have shot about 2500 -3000 .22 round all out of a model 60 (older syle) and got better results than this but not by much here is what i got at 50 yards when i sighted it in CCI Blazers middle one was my last patern 22 pics 005 croped.jpg CCI Quick shot and Federal 22 pics 004 c.jpg Remingtion Subsonic 22 pics 006 c.jpg Remingtion Viper And Yellow Jacket were similar but yellow had a beter patern 22 pics 007 c.jpg

| Try different ammo. Stainles vs. carbon has nothing to do with accuracy. But all barrels are individuals, and some won't shoot no matter what you do. |

| Yep, you just haven't found what it prefers yet. Mine really likes CCI minimag. Try the Winchester, Federal and Remington bulk packs too.

| Hey Scotman your haveing my luck, I've never owned a 22 rifle that was worth a dearn as far as accurate. I guess some get lucky, Your not going to get that rifle to shoot any better than what it's shooting now. Geeez thats only 50 yards, if you can go trade it off and try something else. Then do it ! I bought 2 Marlin 22's in boltaction, I've shot the 22lr one and it's decent enough the other one is a 22 magnum and I shot it with iron sites 10 times and I was unhappy with the results with that rifle so it might get traded off but I need to scope it and shoot it a few more times first. Take care...A.H Last edited by ArkansasHunter; 03-28-2008 at 06:26 AM. |

| A little break in will probably help. How are you shooting those groups? Off a bench? And did you clean the barrel before firing it the first time?

| yes i shot it off a bench when i sighted it in and i did clean the gun before i shot it. I used a bore snake in it when i got it and i cleaned the barrel once while i was sighting it in cuzz my groups seemed to open up a bit i now have removed the bronze brush from the bore snake and clean it with that

| I sighted my J.C. Higgin's yesterday and it's very similar to the model 60. It's incredibly accurate. I was at about 50 yards and I was using those visi targets. It made the 10 in the middle of the target disappear once I got it tuned in. |
