I use cleen bore foaming cleaner, copper disolver. I then dun a patch with oil through it. Yall who think the bore snake isnt suitable for cleaning are weird. I have bore snakes with every caliber of gun that I have, and they clean the barrels (with just 2 pulls ) to a sparkling clean. The oil patch I run through after doesnt show any residue left over. IDK what yall are using but mine is fantastic.

I am a huge Boresnake fan as well. I suppose if you let your boresnake get real dirty it may be dragging more grime through the barrel but wash it once in a while and it should be fine.

I wash mine after every use with dish or laundry soap. Bot have great grease cutting abilities and both are also very mild. Then I squeeze them in about 4 paper towels to get most of the water out and then let them hang dry over night. Works great and always clean and ready for the next use... If I have more then one firearm in the same caliber, I just buy another boresnake in that caliber. They aren't that expensive, yet, and this way I know I'm not putting anything from a previous barrel into that one...

The boresnake has a lot of surface area to remove crud, as well as a bronze brush. There really isn't much in a .22 rimfire bore that needs aggressive solvents. It is a good idea to keep a boresnake clean. If you put it in a washing bag it can be put in the washing machine.

I thought about a washing machine bag , but soaking it in hot water and dish soap works fine. Hehe if my wife found out I washed my bore snakes with her laundry, oh the pain I would feel.

Right! I soak mine in a little dish soap and hot water for an hour or so. Rinse it out and shake the water out. Then hang in on something outside to dry.
